Human Flower Project

Rose-a-Homa

The State of Oklahoma’s float in the 2007 Tournament of Roses parade included MGM lettering and rockets to roll out the theme “Oklahoma Rising.” Richard Seekins, owner/operator of The Flower Place in Fountain Valley, California, was impressed, which is saying a lot. He was the Tournament of Roses’ floral director for over a decade, and now enjoys attending the spectacle with his camera.

“The center of the lettering of OKLAHOMA was filled solid with bright red roses,” Richard explains. “The deck was a solid mass of roses in the reds and oranges.” Seekins admired this parade entry as “very clean and colorful. From out of the Gift Package to the left of the OKLAHOMA, a person popped out and did a self-propelled sky flight there on the corner of Orange Grove and Colorado Boulevards. (Really one of the highlights of the parade).”

Thank you, Richard!
